Kalangarai has been paying special attention to youth since its inception, as they are the immediate hope of the Tsunami-affected families. Skill development training as the best tool to channelize the potentialities of the youth constructively, Kalangarai offers a quite number of skill training courses with varying duration, ranging from 3 months to one year.
Realizing the importance of skill training, Kalangarai started a community college of its own in Nagapattinam on 12th Sept. 2005 with the motto “Skills to Youth - Light to the Least’, and named it as St. Joseph’s Community College. At present four trades are offered to the students namely 1.Vocational Diploma in Desk Top Publishing (VDTP), 2. Vocational Diploma in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Technician (VDRA), 3. Vocational Diploma in House Electrical (VDHE) and 4.Vocational Diploma in General Duty Assistant (VDGD)
As a creative post-secondary institution and approved and recognized by Tamil Nadu Open University (VPC No: 130101), St. Joseph’s Community College serves nearly seventy full-time students every year. It offers high quality education and opportunities to the students, which turns to be a starting point of new life.
